Global Warming: Final Debate
All across the world, in every kind of environment and region known to man, increasingly dangerous weather patterns and devastating storms are abruptly putting an end to the long-running debate over whether or not climate change is real. Not only is it real, it's here, and its effects are giving rise to a frighteningly new global phenomenon: the man-made natural disaster.
-Barack Obama
The whole (global warming) thing is created to destroy America's free enterprise system and our economic stability.
-Jerry Falwell
I have been hearing differently on the existence of global warming and this is the final debate. Reply with what your stance is and why.
Some of the scientists, I believe, haven't they been changing their opinion a little bit on global warming? There's a lot of differing opinions and before we react I think it's bast to have the full accounting, full understanding of what's taking place.

Global warming definitely exists. The facts cannot be denied. The only aspect of global warming that can be debated, is the cause. The average annual temperature, GLOBALLY, is on a steady rise. That, by definition, is global warming. The ice packs on the planets poles are melting at an accelerated rate. The temperatures of the oceans are rising. These are facts and cannot be debated. I'm not convinced, as some would assert, that humans are in any way responsible for global warming though. The earth goes through cycles. There were several "ice ages" and "global warmings" long before humans populated the planet. The sun is the most likely culprit. The earth and sun relationship is much more likely to be the cause of global climate changes than our population. Granted, our continuous polluting of the atmosphere certainly doesn't help matters. It will need to be curtailed in the near future. But, I don't believe our existence and habits alone can change the climate on a global scale. Look to the sun! Just, don't look AT it. Side: It exists
It is difficult to argue that global warming does not exist. The vast majority of data that exist such as the increase in global mean temperature, the increase in CO2 concentrations, the melting glaciers, the changing home ranges of animals and plants, etc. all point to the same conclusion. That conclusion is that the Earth is warming up. However, the term "global warming" is a bit of a misnomer because not all of the Earth will warm. Some portions will cool. Some portions will receive more rainfall while others will receive less. Some portions will be under more water while others will be under less. It should be called "global weirding" because the planet is going to get a lot more strange. The more correct term is global climate change because that encompasses all changes. Despite popular opinion, most scientists DO NOT disagree that the climate of the Earth is changing. Most scientists feel that it is changing, that we are causing the change, and that it is most alarming that it is happening so quickly. Yes, the Earth has changed throughout its history, however those changes were much more gradual. They are not so gradual right now. We are talking about changes that are occuring within a 100 year time span as opposed to thousands or even millions of years. I just hope that we don't spend too much time and resources debating who is causing it when we should be spending more time trying to slow it down. I don't think it is possible to reverse it. We just need to try and slow it down. We'll see if the lobbyists in Congress allow this to happen. Side: It exists
